Senior Dispatcher
This is the desk where the money is made. You carry a book of trucks for carriers who judge us every Friday on revenue per mile and empty miles, and you decide what those trucks haul. When a broker opens at $1.90 a mile on a lane you know pays $2.35, closing that gap is your job.
You will run 20 to 30 trucks across several carrier accounts, and you will be the person two or three newer dispatchers come to when a load falls apart.
What you'll do
- Own dispatch for an assigned group of trucks, from planning the week to booking each load
- Negotiate rates directly with brokers instead of accepting what is posted, and walk away from freight that does not pay
- Plan backhauls before the outbound load delivers, so trucks are not sitting empty waiting for a call
- Build repeat relationships with brokers and shippers on the lanes your trucks run most
- Hold a weekly call with each carrier owner, walk through their numbers, and answer for a bad week honestly
- Review the bookings of newer dispatchers, sit in on their difficult calls, and tell them plainly when a rate was too low
- Cover detention, layover, and accessorial claims so the carrier is paid for time that was not their fault
- Flag accounts at risk to the account manager before the carrier raises it themselves
What you need
- Three or more years dispatching freight in the US market, at a carrier, brokerage, or outsourced dispatch service
- A demonstrable record of rate negotiation, and be ready to walk us through one specific load where you moved a broker off their first number
- Real feel for lanes and seasons, so a Midwest reefer run in July reads differently to you than the same lane in February
- Working knowledge of hours of service, because a plan that ignores a driver's remaining clock is not a plan
- Strong English on the phone and in writing, since you speak with carrier owners weekly
- Willingness to work an afternoon and evening shift in Amman that overlaps the American business day
Nice to have
- Existing broker relationships you can bring with you
- Experience with reefer, flatbed, or heavy haul beyond dry van
- Time spent training or supervising other dispatchers
- Comfort reading a profit and loss statement from a small carrier's point of view
Hours and location
On site in Amman, Sunday through Thursday, afternoon into the evening to overlap US business hours. We state this plainly in the first interview so the schedule is never a surprise later.
What we offer
- Health coverage and paid annual leave
- Performance review twice a year tied to the numbers your book produces
- A voice in which carriers we take on, since you are the one who has to deliver for them
- First consideration for team lead roles as the dispatch floor grows
How to apply
Email info@fleeter.info with your CV. In the body, name the lanes and equipment you know best and describe one rate negotiation you are proud of. We read every application and reply.
